The payoff math, in plain words
- Monthly interest
- = Balance Γ APR Γ· 12
- A $3,200 credit card at 24.99%: $3,200 Γ 0.2499 Γ· 12 = $66.64 of interest this month.
- Debt avalanche
- = Minimums on everything, every extra dollar to the highest interest rate first
- Card at 24.99%, then car loan at 7.9%, then student loan at 5.5%, with $200 extra: debt-free in 29 months, $1,800 of interest.
- Debt snowball
- = Minimums on everything, every extra dollar to the smallest balance first; a paid-off minimum rolls onto the next
- The $2,400 student loan is knocked out in month 10, then the card, then the car: debt-free in 30 months, $2,227 of interest.
- Interest saved
- = Interest on minimums only β interest on your plan
- Minimums alone take 58 months and $4,227 of interest. The avalanche with $200 extra: $1,800. You keep about $2,428.

Payments counted for real
Import a bank statement or log a payment in three taps. Each one lowers that debt's balance, and your debt-free date updates right away.
Every debt, every currency
A card in dollars, a student loan in euros, money owed to family in reais. Each stays in its own currency and adds up in the one you choose, with fresh daily rates.
A knockout date for each debt
Every debt shows its balance, interest rate, minimum and the month it hits zero on your plan, snowball or avalanche.
Interest you can see
Ginkou shows what interest costs you each month and how much your extra payments cut it, so a $50 top-up has a number next to it.
Milestones
Every round won, counted
Debt-free isn't one finish line years away. Each milestone is money you no longer owe, and Ginkou marks each one as you reach it.
Know your enemies

Questions
Debt payoff questions, honest answers
What's the difference between the debt snowball and the debt avalanche?
The snowball pays off your smallest balance first; the avalanche pays off your highest interest rate first. In both, you pay the minimum on every debt, put everything extra on one target, and roll each paid-off minimum onto the next debt.
Which is better, snowball or avalanche?
The avalanche always costs the least interest; the snowball gets you the first payoff sooner. If your rates are close the difference is small, so pick the one you'll stick with. The calculator shows both side by side with your own debts.
How is my debt-free date calculated?
Month by month: each debt is charged its APR Γ· 12 in interest, then your minimums and extra payment go out in the order your strategy picks. When a debt hits zero its minimum moves to the next one. The month the last balance reaches zero is your date.
What if my minimum payment doesn't cover the interest?
Then that debt grows instead of shrinking, and minimums alone never pay it off. The calculator flags it. Paying a little more than the monthly interest, or putting your extra on that debt first, turns it back into a fight you can finish.
How much does paying extra each month save?
Often more than people expect. With a $3,200 card, a $9,800 car loan and a $2,400 student loan, $200 extra a month cuts about 29 months and $2,400 of interest compared with paying only the minimums.
Does this work as a credit card payoff calculator?
Yes. Enter one card, or several, with each balance, APR and minimum payment. It works the same for car loans, student loans, personal loans and money you owe to family or friends.
Can I track debts in different currencies?
Yes. Each debt keeps its own currency, whether it's a card in dollars, a loan in euros or money owed in reais, and your total and debt-free date add up in the currency you choose, with fresh daily rates. Ginkou supports 160+ currencies, plus crypto and metals.
Is Ginkou free? Is this financial advice?
It's free, with no ads and no premium tier, and your data stays on your device unless you choose to sync it. It isn't financial advice: Coach Bruno helps you see your own numbers and stick to a plan, but for big decisions talk to a licensed professional.
